Home » Trees (4) » When should I trim the shoots of a Pear Tree?

When the tree is dormant, late Oct right thru till Mid March. When the leaves have fallen and new buds have not started. This should be done every year. Don’t be afraid, cut the shoots right off. You do not want your tree getting too big or the clean up from the fruit will be too much. You will have trouble picking the fruit if it is too high.

My website is new (est. Feb. 2019) and I have not answered many of your questions yet. Thank you for your patience and understanding
